How Counselling Can Help

Counselling provides a gentle hand to help lift emotional burdens. If you are weighed down by depression, anxiety, stress, or a vague sense of unease, remember you are not alone.

Such feelings often surface after major life changes like loss, illness, breakups, work stress, or trauma. Even joyful milestones, like starting college, moving, or retiring, can stir up unexpected emotions. Sometimes, sadness or anxiety arrives unannounced, making daily life feel heavier.

People often come to counselling with questions and thoughts like these:

Why do I feel so overwhelmed or anxious all the time?

How can I cope with the loss of someone close to me?

Why do I keep repeating the same patterns in my relationships?

How do I manage feelings of sadness or hopelessness?

What can I do about low self-esteem or self-worth?

How do I handle conflict or communicate better with others?

Am I making the right choices for my future?

How can I better understand and accept myself?

Talking with a counsellor or psychotherapist can help you address these questions and challenges.

What Happens in a Counselling Session?

Counselling offers a safe, private space where you can share whatever is on your mind. Here, you are met with understanding and respect, never judgment. Through this process, you can explore your challenges, deepen your self-awareness, and gently uncover who you are. Counselling can help you clarify your desires and discover new ways to cope, opening the door to a richer, more fulfilling life.

My Approach to Counselling

We work together to make things feel less overwhelming and to find a steady, practical rhythm for our sessions. Whether we meet in Ballincollig or online, our time is calm and focused. We mix open conversation with mindfulness exercises and personal growth activities, always going at a pace that suits you. At the end of each session, I might share a few thoughts or suggest simple resources to help you keep moving forward and notice changes. This gentle, collaborative approach often helps you make steady, manageable changes in your life.

Counselling in Cork and Online - How many sessions ?

How long we work together depends on why you are coming to therapy. If you have a clear and specific concern, we might only need 6 to 12 sessions. If you want to work through deeper issues, such as past trauma, we may take more time and move at a slower pace. In our first session, we will discuss a timeline to track our progress and ensure you are getting what you need.
